Scans Files and Folders
This initiates the duplicate file checking process. Duplicate Finder scans all the files in the search list. There are four options available (1) Same Name Files (2) Zero Size Files (3) Byte to Byte and (4) CRC32.

  1. Same Name Files : Those files with the same file name but may different in content.

  2. Zero Size Files : Those files without any contents. They are usually temporary files.

  3. Byte to Byte : Same-name files are suspected to be the same but their contents may be different. Duplicate files are those contents identically the same regardless file name.

    File A: 1010101010101
    File B: 1010101010101
File A is exactly identical to file B.

  4. CRC32 :  CRC can be considered as a string that represents the contents of a file. So if two files have the same CRC, it means their contents are the same. If this criteria is also included into scanning, you will get only duplicate files in every sense. Files with the same CRC and size will be identical.

Send to Recycle Bin.
This is the safest and most wise method of removal. Files that are moved to the Windows Recycle Bin retain information about their original location etc. Chances are very good that if you need to reverse a file removal that has been stored in the Recycle Bin, you will be able to accomplish this easily. The downside of using the Recycle Bin is that the space occupied by the removed files is not freed until you actually empty the bin through Windows. If you want to delete permanently then disable this option by clicking on Recycle.

Protect Windows Folders / Include Hidden Folders and Files
Your local drives may contain files or folders that are important for the working of the system. System files and folders are necessary to run the operating system. In order to protect these folders and files, Duplicate Finder provides two options that let you skip the System Files and Hidden Files and System Folders.
We recommend that these two options to be checked always to avoid any accidental deletion of these files.
